Stephanie Kurzenhäuser-Carstens is a Professor for Health Psychology and Methods at the FOM University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg. She was a fellow of the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin (Center for Adaptive Behavior and Cognition) from 1999 to 2004. In her dissertation, she examined how the formats of statistical information can foster or limit the understanding of risk information in medical domains. 

Her current research interests include health risk behaviors and health risk perceptions, e.g. with regard to self-endangering work behavior, recovery strategies and time perspectives.
